Recently, I heard that in order
for Matsumoto to return, a press conference and an apology are necessary. That seems like a tough condition. I believe he has his own convictions, and I want to respect that. However, I feel that refusing to apologize might make his return even more challenging, which must be a painful choice for him. I’ve faced situations in the past where I had to apologize. For example, when I missed an appointment with a friend. I had planned to leave early, but the traffic was worse than I expected, and I ended up being late. In such moments, I know that being honest and apologizing is the best course of action, yet I often find myself hesitating out of embarrassment. Matsumoto might be feeling something similar.
Public Understanding and Opportunities for Activity
Currently, one of the reasons Matsumoto cannot return is the lack of public understanding. Although the lawsuit regarding the sexual assault allegations has been withdrawn, many people remain unconvinced due to the absence of his explanations or apologies. I also want to understand his thoughts and feelings. If I could grasp the situation through his words, I would be able to enjoy his humor again. Personally, I have countless memories of laughing at Matsumoto’s stand-up and skits. When I was younger, I used to watch them with friends, often exclaiming, “This gag is the best!” I hope to see those joyful times return.
