Lately, I’ve been hearing a lot about the Hiroshima Carp’s impressive performance. The sight of those red uniforms in action is exhilarating and makes me feel excited too. As a fan of the team,
there’s nothing more satisfying than seeing them win. So, let’s take a moment to consider why the Carp is doing so well.
The Key: A Strong Offense
Surprisingly, I believe it’s the strong performance of the batting lineup that’s driving their success. While it’s often said that a batting lineup can be unpredictable, this ongoing success feels like a pleasant surprise. Until September of last year, the team’s strength lay in its pitching, but this year, the batting lineup has shown unexpected steadiness. Of course, the contributions of player Kozono have been significant, but the growth of player Suekabu is also noteworthy. It’s their consistent hitting that’s allowing the team to score more runs.
The Pitching Staff is Solid
Of course, the pitching staff is holding its own as well. Even though pitcher Kuri is no longer with the team, the original pitching strength remains impressive. The players are resilient and tenacious, making it difficult for opposing teams to score. It almost feels unreal compared to the slowdown we experienced in the latter half of last season.
Thoughts as a Carp Fan
As a Carp fan, I can’t help but worry about how long this success will last. Manager Araii might not fully understand why they are winning or why the batting lineup suddenly clicked. Despite this underlying uncertainty, it’s still a joy to see the team performing well. Speaking of which, the other day, I went to the ballpark with a friend and ended up arriving a bit early. Before the game started, I couldn’t resist buying a ton of snacks from the concession stand, and as a result, I was too full to focus during the game. I think those little mishaps are part of the fun of supporting the Carp.
