Every time I see her name in the news, I can’t help but think, “Here we go again…” Indeed, she may continue to be in the spotlight until the findings from the third-party committee are released, but honestly, there are so many other interesting news stories out there. As someone who loves comedy, I find myself wishing for more laughable topics. This reminds me of a time I went to see a manzai performance with friends. We were laughing hysterically at the comedians’ banter, and I thought to myself, “This is what I enjoy the most!” It’s so much more pleasant to engage in conversations that make us laugh rather than just discussing Watanabe Nagisa.
The Distance Between Fans and Celebrities
For her fans, it might be exciting to support her as she works hard, but I personally feel a bit of distance. After all, celebrities are human too, and I wish they would show more of their different sides. Above all, I believe communication with fans is crucial. Speaking of distance from fans, there was a hilarious skit in a manzai performance that touched on this very theme. It humorously depicted the gap between what fans want and what celebrities want to show, and I couldn’t help but laugh. Thinking about that makes me wish Watanabe would share a bit more of herself to feel closer to her audience.
