Question from reader:
I’d like to know more about what happened between Takada Fumin and Ryukoku University. Can you tell me what events took place?
About the Incident between Takada Fumin and Ryukoku University
Recently, it seems there has been quite a stir between Takada Fumin and Ryukoku University. I was curious about what happened and looked into it. Apparently, something
he said on “wakatte” touched a nerve with a professor at the university. This incident seems to have made the news about six months ago, but specific details are not widely known. I personally haven’t watched any “wakatte” videos, but it seems that opinions on his style are quite divided, with many people not particularly fond of it. To be honest, I’ve never found that type of content very interesting myself. As someone who enjoys manzai and comedy, I often feel a bit unsatisfied with that kind of material.
A Fond Memory
I remember a time when I went to see a manzai show with a friend and we arrived an hour early. Other people started to gather, and in the end, we were the only ones laughing and saying, “We got here too early.” Since we were hungry, we bought a bunch of snacks from a nearby convenience store and felt like we were having a picnic. The conversations and laughter with my friend from that day still linger in my heart. I sometimes wonder how people would have reacted if I had brought up Takada Fumin back then. It would have been interesting to discuss his style and ideas; that conversation would have surely been fun.
