been thinking a lot about the Ukraine situation lately. Specifically, I’m curious about President Trump’s proposal for the joint development of Ukraine’s mineral resources. Honestly, I’m not sure what to make of it. His idea seems a bit trivial at first glance, but it also feels like he might be searching for a solution. It’s unfortunate that it ultimately fell apart.
Thoughts on Putin
I’m also curious about how Putin feels about this matter. For him, Ukraine is a country with a friendly relationship spanning 500 years, so I doubt he believes that one clown (I use that term intentionally) could easily destroy that relationship. It makes sense to me that he would want to restore the friendly ties somehow. As someone who enjoys comedy, I sometimes find myself laughing at Trump’s impulsiveness, but international issues are definitely not that simple. Especially since Ukraine is seeking security, there are things NATO member countries cannot do. It was also striking to hear President Zelensky calling for the establishment of a new European army.
The Relationship Between Russia and Ukraine
Regarding the situation where Russia is not invading, I question whether there was ever a real commitment to that. Putin likely doesn’t care at all about U.S. corporate interests in his sphere of influence, which I think complicates matters further. As ordinary citizens, we often find ourselves shocked by the news, thinking, “Wait, is that really possible?”
