Question from a reader:
I’m worried that even after graduating from Keio, I might end up like Watanabe Nagisa, having my life ruined by a man. What does graduation really mean?
The Meaning of Graduation and Life After
Hello! Recently, I was having a conversation with a friend about whether graduation is truly that important. I graduated from Keio as well,
but I completely understand the concern about potentially facing situations like Watanabe Nagisa. Just because you graduate from university doesn’t mean everything will go smoothly.
Memories from Graduation Day
On the day of my graduation, I remember arriving way too early and being so nervous that my hands were shaking. While waiting for the ceremony to start, my friends and I were munching on snacks and talking about the future, and before we knew it, time flew by! I recall being so excited, thinking, “This is the last time as a student!” Receiving my diploma was an incredible sense of achievement, but at the same time, I felt anxious about what to do next. The moment I stepped into the workforce, I truly felt the harshness of reality. There were many moments when I was overwhelmed by stress from work and relationship issues, experiencing the waves of life firsthand.
Having Your Life Ruined
Like Watanabe Nagisa, it’s possible for someone to ruin your life. I’ve also faced betrayal from a partner I trusted and thought, “Why is this happening to me?” However, through those experiences, I learned the importance of valuing myself and the significance of relationships with those around me. That’s why I believe graduation is not just the end of a learning phase but rather the beginning of a new chapter in life. The trials and joys that come after entering society help us grow as individuals.
