In the final episodes of Re:Zero Season 2, there was a confrontation between Ram and Roswaal. I noticed that Roswaal seemed surprised and shaken by Ram’s confession of love. I heard that he had cast a spell on Ram to turn her hatred into affection, so I would think
he would just feel like, “Of course,” when receiving her confession. Why was he surprised? Could it be that he had lifted the spell on Ram beforehand? If so, what would be the reason for doing that? I just finished watching Season 2 and I don’t know anything about the original source material.

He could have helped Ram and her sister, Rem, during the attack, but he chose to wait until Ram was hurt, which makes you question his motives.
