Question from readers:
Why don’t Masahiro Nakai’s entertainment colleagues support or encourage him? He has been in the industry for over 30 years, so he should have many friends. It’s a bit strange. Could it be that they are thinking about self-preservation?
Thoughts on the Situation Surrounding Masahiro Nakai
Recently, I’ve been thinking a lot about the reactions of his colleagues
towards Masahiro Nakai. Despite his long career of over 30 years in the entertainment industry and presumably having many friends, it’s puzzling why we don’t hear more voices of support and encouragement. Is there a particular reason behind this?
The Psychology of Self-Preservation and the Conflict of Friendship
I often find myself struggling with how to reach out to friends or colleagues when they are in difficult situations. Especially when the reactions of those around them may influence the situation, there’s a fear that speaking up might lead to getting involved in the mess. In Nakai’s case, it’s understandable that some might choose to keep their distance to protect themselves. However, I believe there are certainly those who trust and support him as well. The entertainment industry has a diverse range of relationships, so I think there are people who are quietly backing him up. In our own lives, even small issues can create distance between friends or acquaintances, making these situations quite complex.
The Importance of Past Experiences and Companionship
Looking back, I faced similar situations in my youth. There were many times I struggled with how to reach out to a friend caught in trouble. In the end, I chose to act early and stand by my friend, which ultimately strengthened our bond. I truly realized that having companions during tough times is essential. On the flip side, I can understand how the mindset of “as long as I’m okay” can spread. In a highly competitive environment like the entertainment industry, such psychology may take hold. I, too, have sometimes refrained from speaking out due to concerns about what others might think.
The Importance of Supporting Each Other
While there are colleagues like Tsuyoshi Kusanagi and Goro Inagaki who have overcome past incidents together, it’s disappointing to see a somewhat cold reaction to Nakai’s current situation. After all, it’s important to cherish the bonds of friendship. Personally, when friends or family face hardships, I want to be there to help in any way I can. I feel that maintaining communication and supporting one another is necessary regardless of the circumstances.
