Lately, there has been a lot of discussion surrounding the entertainment industry. Indeed, some events have been shocking and may appear chaotic. However, in my view, it seems that the existing structure is breaking down, revealing underlying issues that have long been hidden. It
feels like we have reached a point where change is necessary. When I work at the judicial scrivener’s office, I often contemplate the relationship between law and the entertainment industry. One day, a colleague at the office was discussing recent happenings in the entertainment world and expressed concern, saying, “Isn’t the industry on the verge of collapse?” I understand that sentiment, but conversely, it suggests that problems that were previously invisible are now coming to light.
The Rapid Shift Towards Transparency and Its Impact
The rapid movement towards transparency is undoubtedly alarming for those involved in the industry. However, instead of viewing this as a deterioration, it can also be seen as a sign of improvement. Perhaps the era of hiding misconduct and issues within the industry is coming to an end. With that thought in mind, I decided to spend the weekend with friends, bringing snacks to watch a movie together. It’s a secret, but I ended up falling asleep first after eating too many treats.
The Quieting of the Entertainment Industry
It certainly feels like the entertainment industry has become quieter recently. Amidst the ongoing noisy news, it seems that those involved are becoming more subdued to protect their positions. From a legal perspective, I can understand their actions. Often, especially in the workplace, choosing not to speak up becomes a tactic to avoid risk. Reflecting on this, I realize the importance of “having one’s own opinions.” I believe that holding and expressing our viewpoints may be the key to overcoming the current turmoil. To break down past structures and build new forms, it is essential for everyone to raise their voices.
