Question from a Reader:
Are the people who criticize celebrities on social media just bored?
Thoughts on Those Who Criticize Celebrities
I was chatting with friends recently and realized that there’s a lot of discussion about people criticizing celebrities on social media. I often wonder why they do such things. Are they really just bored?
Could It Be Obsessive Behavior?
We
were watching a segment about Chiemi Hori on NHK’s Asaichi, and I was surprised to hear that over 10,000 hateful emails were sent by just four individuals. It’s true that some people might just be bored, but I can’t help but think this could be obsessive behavior. It’s hard to understand how anyone could spend their time in that way.
Is It Like a Part-Time Job?
One of my friends mentioned, “Maybe some people are doing it like a part-time job?” This thought struck me as quite insightful. The anonymity of the online world makes it easy for anyone to voice their opinions, and some might approach it with that mindset. When I think about it, it’s a bit scary.
How to Spend One’s Time
Personally, I love comedy and enjoy watching various stand-up acts and skits. I believe spending time that way is far more meaningful. Recently, I’ve been watching comedy movies with my kids and laughing a lot, or enjoying manzai with my family while snacking. Those moments are truly the best. However, it makes me a little sad to think that those who can’t enjoy their time might express themselves only by criticizing others.
