Additionally, reporting on information that only the parties involved are privy to is inherently difficult. This is particularly true concerning sexual violence, which is a highly sensitive issue intertwined with confidentiality obligations. When I first started studying law, it took me time to grasp the importance of confidentiality. Unless the individuals directly involved choose to speak up, details are unlikely to come to light. The media may also feel that, in the absence of concrete information, there’s no obligation to report. In terms of responsibly conveying information, a degree of caution is indeed essential.
