Question from a reader:
I have a question about Yoshimoto Kogyo. Why is it that while Shimada Shinsuke was forced to retire, Matsumoto-san has not been fired? Additionally, what does it mean for him to engage in paid distribution?
Let’s Dive Deeper into Yoshimoto Kogyo!
Recently, Yoshimoto Kogyo has been a hot topic. Particularly, there have been many opinions circulating
about Shimada Shinsuke and Matsumoto-san. I’ve thought about this and would like to share my thoughts.
About Shinsuke’s Retirement
It’s generally understood that Shimada Shinsuke had to retire due to rumored connections with organized crime. He claims it was his own decision, but there are also impressive stories about how desperately those around him tried to convince him to stay. I can relate to that feeling from my own experiences when friends have tried to stop me from doing something. It must have been incredibly tough for him, especially when those close to him were in tears trying to convince him. However, if Shinsuke truly made the decision to retire on his own, then it’s unlikely that Matsumoto-san would face the same fate. Matsumoto-san holds a significant presence within Yoshimoto Kogyo, and it feels like his situation is an entirely different matter.
Matsumoto-san’s Position
Matsumoto-san is undoubtedly a major figure who has made a significant impact in the industry, and his influence is immeasurable. Of course, I believe his style and approach have evolved over time, but he is still very much active and doing well. Unless he decides he wants to quit, I don’t think he’ll be fired anytime soon. I personally love watching his comedy, especially the sketches from “Gaki no Tsukai ya Arahende!” which always make me laugh out loud. The unique rhythm, timing, and especially Matsumoto-san’s expressions are incredibly entertaining. Considering this, I can understand why he continues to appear on television.
The Meaning of Paid Distribution
I’d also like to touch on the topic of paid distribution. Nowadays, television is no longer the sole platform for entertainment. With many platforms like YouTube and Netflix, paid distribution opens up new possibilities. When Matsumoto-san engages in paid distribution, it’s an opportunity for him to maintain his style while also tapping into new fan bases. Recently, I’ve found myself watching YouTube with my kids, and when my favorite comedians are streaming, I can’t help but get engrossed. There’s a lot of content that my kids enjoy too, which makes it fun to laugh together. In that sense, I find Matsumoto-san’s venture into paid distribution very intriguing.
Conclusion
There are various opinions about Yoshimoto Kogyo, and it’s a deep topic. It reminds me that behind the comedy and skits we enjoy, there are sometimes complex circumstances at play. What do you think? I would love to hear your opinions or stories about your favorite comedians in the comments!
