Question from Readers:
Was the incident where Egashira 2:50 attacked Nagano Mei a scripted part of a variety show, or was it a case of miscommunication between Egashira and Nagano?
About the Incident Involving Egashira 2:50 and Nagano Mei
Recently, the news of Egashira 2:50 attacking Nagano Mei has become a hot topic. When I first saw this news, I was
taken aback and thought, “Wait, what happened?” Egashira is known for his extreme comedic style, but many people feel that he may have crossed a line this time.
The Fine Line of Comedy
I personally love comedy and watch various stand-up acts and skits every day, but I think it’s genuinely difficult to gauge the fine line of humor. Especially when it comes to viewers in front of the television, you can’t see their faces, so you can’t read their real-time reactions. Egashira might have struggled to control whether he was “picking on the right person” or “how far he could go before it became funny.” By the way, I remember a skit by Egashira from a long time ago where he managed to involve the audience and get big laughs. Of course, I believe that was a well-calculated performance, but I felt that this time it didn’t go as smoothly.
Seeing Egashira’s Humanity in His Apology Video
Watching Egashira in his apology video say, “I didn’t realize I was making you cry,” was quite heart-wrenching for me. I appreciate his extreme style, but I also feel that being considerate as a person is important. Some people have expressed that they feel he is losing his touch, but the reason we support him is primarily because of his humanity and sincerity. There are times when I misread the atmosphere and unintentionally evoke laughter. I wonder if others have had similar experiences? Sometimes, the moments we think we’ve nailed can actually appear quite different from the outside perspective. I would love to hear any stories like that from you. So, what do you all think? If you have opinions on Egashira’s actions or any of your own experiences to share, please let me know in the comments!
