Question from a Reader:
People who support the Akishino family are often called “believers,” but are those who praise Aiko-sama also considered believers?
The Believer Issue Surrounding the Akishino Family and Aiko-sama
Recently, I’ve heard that those who support the Akishino family are frequently referred to as “believers.” This raises the question of whether those who commend Aiko-sama are similarly categorized.
When considering this, it seems to reflect a modern-day “believer war.”
A Little Memory
I recall having late-night discussions with friends about these topics. We would fully embody the roles of “believers,” almost like a comedic skit, alternately taking the positions of supporters of the Akishino family and Aiko-sama. While one friend would enthusiastically list the merits of the Akishino family, I would counter, “But Aiko-sama is more charming!” In the end, we found ourselves laughing while pondering the deeper truth behind each perspective.
Political Aspects and Respect for Royalty
Shifting gears, I believe that respect for the royal family is an important value for us as Japanese people, regardless of political leanings. Amidst the various opinions circulating today, emotional conflicts can easily arise. However, upon reflection, honoring the Emperor and the royal family may be the true essence of Japan. That said, as discussions progress, categorizing specific groups or individuals as “believers” can indeed be somewhat unproductive. Sometimes, we may need to deepen our thoughts without being swayed by emotions.
