Question from a reader:
I heard the news that Hamada Masatomo has taken a break. I’m concerned about his mental health. Do we have any detailed information on why he decided to take a break?
Thoughts on Hamada Masatomo’s Break
Recently, there has been news about Hamada Masatomo taking a break, and many are worried about his mental health. Now over
60 years old and having been very active on television, the hiatus of his partner Matsumoto Hitoshi must have added significant stress. I can relate to the busy days he experiences, and dealing with stress can be really tough. He has often mentioned that he has done things he didn’t want to do simply because Matsumoto asked him to. While I admire his dedication to meeting the expectations of those around him, it pains me to think about how much pressure he must have felt internally. It’s often difficult for us to understand what someone who always appears cheerful may be going through.
The Possibility of Depression and Its Impact
Indeed, there are rumors about depression or burnout. Just like Okamura, who mentioned feeling unwell but actually was suffering from depression, Hamada might be in a similar situation. There are also rumors that he tends to keep things to himself, which may have taken a toll on him. Personally, when I am managing legal work at my part-time job, there are moments when the stress builds up, and I think, “Maybe I should take a break.” In those times, just chatting with a friend at a café can really lighten my mood. I hope Hamada finds a way to refresh himself as well.
