Thoughts on Celebrity Infidelity
Recently, celebrity infidelity has often been in the spotlight, but honestly, I feel indifferent about it. Of course, I enjoy comedy and love both Japanese and American stand-up, so I’m not completely disinterested in these topics. However, sometimes I think that since
they are celebrities, they should just go for it even more.
Enjoying Irresponsibly is the Best
When I see people who aren’t involved but pretend to be morally superior, I can’t help but think, “Who are you?” Sure, if the celebrity is someone I know, I would care a little. But those vague hints and ambiguous revelations just leave me feeling unsettled, and I wish they would stop. The other day, while drinking with friends, we talked about celebrity gossip and laughed together, saying things like, “I can’t believe this person did that!” But I really think it’s not good to criticize excessively. Defamation benefits no one, and it only makes me question that person’s character.
Curiosity but Often Disappointment
Moreover, those who aren’t interested probably won’t even answer such questions, and I’m not completely disinterested either. However, I often find out things that are disappointing. For instance, if I discover that a celebrity I liked has been unfaithful, it feels shocking and like a betrayal of my expectations. Recently, while watching TV with my child, I sometimes think, “I used to like this person.” In those moments, I find myself munching on snacks and reflecting, “What about my own life now?” Ultimately, we are all human, so we’re not perfect and we make mistakes. I believe the power of comedy lies in our ability to laugh at those imperfections.
