They Came to My Home!
Actually, NHK representatives have visited my apartment several times. In the beginning, I was quite nervous and thought, “Who could it be?” when I heard the intercom. Thankfully, with my camera-equipped intercom, I could pretend not to be home. Even though it was just for a short while, their visits made my heart race a bit, turning it into a small adventure. However, when I choose to pretend I’m not home, I often find notes about contract requests in my mailbox, which makes me feel a bit guilty. After all, they are just doing their job. Even with those thoughts, I still end up pretending not to be home, which is the reality.
Not Outsourced, but NHK Staff
What surprised me is that the visitors are not “outsourced contractors,” but rather representatives known as “NHK Regional Communicators.” This gives them a special presence, and realizing they are part of NHK creates a sense of familiarity. I remember one day hearing them chatting in front of the apartment, and their banter was almost like a comedy act. I found myself almost laughing. Seeing them enjoy their job like that made me feel a warm sense of comfort.
