Recently, I’ve been hearing a lot about Shigeru Ishiba. I’ve been curious about him and have given it some thought. In particular, I’ve heard that he has a lot of support from the elderly. Perhaps his slow speaking style makes it
easier for older folks to understand him. In fact, my grandfather is a fan of his and often says, “Ishiba-san is a good person.” It surprised me a bit to hear him say that. My grandfather isn’t usually well-versed in politics, so maybe it was Ishiba’s way of speaking and character that left an impression on him.
Impressive Episode
The other day, while watching TV with my grandfather, Ishiba appeared on screen. As he spoke in his usual slow manner, my grandfather remarked, “This guy really has a kind face.” I couldn’t help but laugh a little. That kindness in his face is likely part of his charm. However, opinions are divided about his behavior after becoming Prime Minister. I’ve noticed that my support for him sometimes wavers as I observe how he navigates the political stage. There are times when I can’t help but feel a gap between expectations and reality.

It’s not just his qualities as a politician but also his warmth as a human being that likely attracts more supporters. I personally feel the importance of treating others with kindness, just like he does. As I continue to watch his developments, I want to approach the people around me with compassion as well.
