a joyful memory each time. Celebrating a victory by singing “Tora no Koi” at a local izakaya on a day the Tigers win brings an indescribable sense of exhilaration.

Recently, I was surprised to see an increase in izakayas and bars in Tokyo dedicated to the Hanshin Tigers. In particular, “Tigers Stadium” in Shinbashi, run by a former professional player, seems to serve as a gathering place for fans to connect. When I visited, I noticed the walls were adorned with Tigers memorabilia, conveying the passionate spirit of the fans. Although the entrance fee and drink prices were a bit on the higher side, the unique atmosphere and the ability to engage with fellow fans make it a truly special experience. The moment of sharing a beer in a plastic cup and embracing friends who cheer alongside you feels just like being at the stadium.

Additionally, private support groups for Hanshin fans exist throughout Japan, operating independently. When attending local matches, it’s incredible to see groups of people dressed in Hanshin uniforms, creating an undeniable sense of unity. I have attended several local games, and cheering alongside local fans brings a different kind of enjoyment. Each time the Tigers win, the moments of high-fiving surrounding fans to share joy, no matter how small, remain in my heart. It is these moments that make cheering so enjoyable.
