Reader’s Question:
I’ve heard that Nakagawa Shoko is being criticized for allegedly buying a Switch 2 from a reseller. Why do people who couldn’t buy it have so little money?
The Resale Controversy Surrounding Nakagawa Shoko and the Switch 2
Recently, I came across the story that Nakagawa Shoko is being accused of purchasing a Switch 2 through resale, which has
led to criticism. Being a popular figure, she naturally stands out in such situations. As a fan of hers, I must admit that I feel a bit worried about all the attention she’s receiving.
The Complexity of the Resale Issue
The resale problem is truly complicated. I remember a time when I tried to buy a limited-edition pair of sneakers and ended up waiting in line early in the morning. In the end, I was just hanging out with friends, munching on snacks while waiting. One person in front of us joked, “If you have delicious snacks, you’re definitely getting them!” It turned into a fun memory filled with laughter. However, I ultimately didn’t manage to buy the sneakers. Resellers were purchasing them in bulk, making it difficult for ordinary people like us to get our hands on them. Is it that those who criticize reselling are doing so because they lack money, or is it that reselling has become so rampant that it leads to financial constraints? It’s a perplexing situation.
Why People Lack Money
There are various reasons why people might be short on cash. For instance, many families are struggling financially, and young parents often face high costs when raising children, and I’m one of them. I need to save for my kids, and the money I can spend on my hobbies is quite limited. Given that perspective, I completely understand the feelings of those who can’t afford expensive items like the Switch 2. Yet, the active resale market creates a dilemma where essential products become unattainable. You want to buy something if you have the money, but resale prices are so inflated that it feels out of reach. I think many people can relate to that sentiment.
