Should Aiko-san Pursue Further Studies at Tsukuba University? Exploring the Balance Between Royal Duties and Education

Question from a Reader:
Should Aiko-san pursue further studies at Tsukuba University?

Considering Aiko-san’s Education

Whether Aiko-san should continue her studies at Tsukuba University is quite a challenging topic. Honestly, I also wondered at first, “What should she do?” Given her position as a member of the imperial family and the demands of her public duties, it’s understandable to question the
necessity of pursuing another degree after graduating from Gakushuin University. As a university student myself, I often reflect on the significance of higher education. University serves not only as a place to learn academically but also as a space to meet friends and discover oneself. I recall the day of my first seminar, when I was so nervous that I arrived too early. Before the professor arrived, I shared snacks and chatted with my seminar mates, which has now become a cherished memory.

The Role of Royalty and the Necessity of Further Studies

In Aiko-san’s case, she has already graduated from Gakushuin University and is busy with her work at the Japanese Red Cross and other public duties. While continuing her education to gain new knowledge is commendable, I believe fulfilling her role as a member of the imperial family is equally important. Of course, there is value in lifelong learning, but opinions vary on whether she needs to pursue further education. As someone studying law, I have strong feelings about continuing education. However, I don’t believe that further studies are everything. Life offers various choices, and each path is valid. Aiko-san’s options should also be respected.

What Do You Think?

When considering this topic, I believe there will be a variety of opinions. Whether Aiko-san chooses to pursue further studies is something she understands best, and it may not be entirely appropriate for us to make judgments from the outside. What do you all think? If you have thoughts on Aiko-san’s education or experiences related to your own studies and learning, I would love to hear them in the comments. I think it would be enjoyable to exchange opinions with each other.
