Question from Readers:
Tsuji-chan’s ability to raise five children is truly amazing. However, if it were like the Showa era, where everyone attended public schools without going to cram schools and could happily grow up with just a high school diploma, wouldn’t more people have children? Nowadays, the burden of educational costs and parenting seems quite heavy, making it difficult to
have more than three children. What do you think?
The Challenges and Joys of Parenting
When chatting with friends, parenting dilemmas and joys are always hot topics. Recently, when Tsuji-chan’s situation with her five kids came up, everyone expressed surprise and admiration. I also think it’s wonderful that there are people like her who enjoy parenting.
Parenting in the Showa Era vs. Today’s Reality
In the Showa era, educational expenses weren’t as high, and everyone could attend public schools and grow up happily without cram schools. However, in today’s world, educational costs are steep, and the burden of raising children is significant. As a father of one, I can personally feel this reality. As my child grows, I find myself filled with expectations for his future, but also worrying about the financial aspect of his education. I empathized when I heard Tsuji-chan say she wanted to raise a baby. Watching my child grow up and witnessing his cuteness can indeed evoke a sense of nostalgia. But in reality, parenting comes with daily challenges and worries, and it’s not all about enjoyment.
The Hobby Aspect of Parenting
It seems that only those who can view parenting as a hobby or a purpose can manage to raise five children. I truly enjoy the time spent playing with my child and witnessing his growth. However, I also want to cherish my own time and sometimes find myself wishing for a bit more ease in parenting. Speaking of which, when I recently made snacks with my child, the kitchen turned into a chaotic mess. Flour was everywhere, resembling snow, but the cookies we made together were absolutely delicious. Moments like that help me forget the hardships.
In Conclusion
Parenting is challenging, but it also has many moments filled with joy and love. If any of you have stories or advice about parenting or family matters, please share them in the comments! I would love to exchange fun stories together.
