Question from a reader:
Earlier, I answered a question, but if my response doesn’t meet the expectations of the asker, is there a high chance that I could be blacklisted and unable to reply?
Expectations vs. Reality in Responses
Recently, I was chatting with a friend at a café. He works in a field related to law and mentioned, “If I
don’t provide responses that meet expectations, I can get blacklisted immediately.” I couldn’t help but laugh, but there’s a serious issue lurking behind that statement.
People Seeking Empathy
According to him, many questioners are looking for empathy. When they receive responses that impose opinions or thoughts, they quickly feel dissatisfied. This can lead to easily hurt feelings. As someone studying psychology, I understand that this tendency is quite strong. Humans have a strong desire to have their opinions accepted. Honestly, I’ve had similar experiences. When I sought advice from a friend, the response was completely different from what I expected, and I felt a bit shocked. At that moment, I wondered if they truly understood my feelings, which left me feeling uneasy. It’s natural for people to seek empathy because they want their opinions to be respected.
The Fear of Being Blacklisted
That said, the idea of being blacklisted is genuinely terrifying. Especially in the legal world, once you make a mistake, it can be quite difficult to recover, so I understand why one would be cautious. I also work part-time at a judicial scrivener’s office, and there are many situations where I have to be careful and constantly consider how others will react. One day, my boss told me, “Don’t use that kind of phrasing,” and honestly, it was shocking. It made me think deeply about how my words are perceived by others. Therefore, I believe that working in law can be mentally challenging.
In Conclusion
Ultimately, the gap between the desire for empathy and reality often troubles us. That’s why I feel it’s important to strive to understand the feelings of others. What experiences have you had? Please share in the comments. I might be able to empathize with your story.
