Naoya Inoue’s Victory and Fatigue: Should the Champion Take a 1-2 Month Break?

Question from a reader:
It’s amazing that Champion Naoya Inoue overcame a knockdown to defeat challenger Cardenas! However, as Katsuhiro Togashi mentioned, it seems like Champion Inoue is experiencing fatigue. Should he really take a break for 1 to 2 months?

Let’s Consider Naoya Inoue’s Situation

Recently, I was genuinely moved by the news of Naoya Inoue’s victory over challenger Cardenas.
Overcoming that knockdown and winning was truly remarkable. However, as Katsuhiro Togashi pointed out, it’s clear that he is fatigued. It might indeed be necessary for him to take a break for 1 to 2 months.

The Timing of Retirement in Boxing

When I discussed this with a friend, I remembered that Yoko Gushiken retired at the age of 26. It’s a significant decision to retire so young after achieving such an impressive record. Mike Tyson also experienced shocking KO losses at a young age, and it really makes you realize how short an athlete’s career can be. Looking back on my own life, I’ve pushed myself too hard when I was younger and regretted it later. For instance, there was a time I went mountain climbing with friends and, eager to reach the summit quickly, I overexerted myself and ended up exhausted halfway. I inconvenienced those around me, and ultimately, I didn’t reach the top. From those experiences, I’ve learned that pushing oneself too hard isn’t beneficial.

Otherworldly Boxers

Speaking of which, the movements of Muhammad Ali and Edwin Valero are truly on another level. Watching their boxing makes me feel inspired to do something special myself. However, I can understand the viewpoint that Inoue may not measure up to those fighters. While he might be a genius, surviving among such monsters is undoubtedly challenging. If I were in his shoes, I might consider retirement as well. It would be too late to think about it after getting injured, and considering my family, focusing on hobbies might not be a bad idea. If I love cycling, it would be lovely to order a custom bike from a place like Raza and spend my time leisurely. My family would also feel more secure.
