Kageyama Yuki’s Journey: Why He Chose Not to Pursue University Despite Attending a Top High School

Question from a reader:
Why did Kageyama Yuki, who attended a high school known for its high academic standards, decide not to pursue university? I would like to know the reason behind this.

Kageyama Yuki’s University Decision

Hello! Today, I want to share some insights about Kageyama Yuki’s decision regarding university. I was quite surprised to learn why, despite attending a
prestigious high school, he chose not to continue his education. The truth is, he took a two-year break from his activities with Hinatazaka to focus on entrance exams. Unfortunately, during this critical time, he fell ill and ended up in the hospital. As a result, he had to give up on his university ambitions, which must have been an incredibly challenging experience. I can relate to him a bit, as I once caught a cold while studying for exams and struggled to keep up with my studies. After returning to his activities with Hinatazaka, he did attempt to enter the University of Tokyo but, sadly, did not succeed. I can only imagine the emotions he experienced at that moment—there must have been a mix of feelings. However, returning to Hinatazaka also shows that he found a new path for himself. Recently, I’ve been reflecting a lot on my child’s future and sometimes find myself uncertain about the right path to choose. As a parent, I want to support my child in pursuing their dreams, and I believe that higher education is important. Yet, like Kageyama, I want to remember that health and personal choices are paramount.
