Reader’s Question:
It feels like there’s too much talk about Shohei Ohtani lately, and I’m starting to get a bit bored. What does everyone else think?
What Do You Think About the Talk Around Shohei Ohtani?
Recently, while having tea with friends at a café, the topic of Shohei Ohtani came up. His achievements are truly impressive, and everyone acknowledges his
performance in Major League Baseball. However, I can understand the feeling of wanting a break from the constant discussions.
Concerns About Commercials
Especially regarding commercials, I’ve noticed his face everywhere on various programs lately, which honestly feels a bit overwhelming. I get why companies want to feature him, but when it’s too much, it can start to lose its impact. While sipping my tea, I often find myself thinking, “Not this commercial again.” Sometimes, I wish to see more talented celebrities in place of Ohtani. Speaking of which, when a friend mentioned, “I haven’t seen any commercials with Haruna Kawaguchi lately,” I found myself agreeing, as I felt the same way. Her bright smile is always refreshing, and Fuka Koshiba is also wonderful. I really want to see a more diverse range of faces.
Balance in Sports News
I also hope that sports news can incorporate more information about Japan’s professional baseball. Of course, Ohtani’s stories are important, but I believe many fans also want to hear about other players and teams. When I turn on the TV in the morning and it’s all Ohtani, I understand how that can get a bit monotonous. However, I personally still feel excited when watching Ohtani play. Cheering with friends while watching a game and exclaiming, “Wow!” is genuinely enjoyable, and I realize there’s a reason he’s so loved.
