Question from Readers:
It feels like there’s too much talk about Shohei Ohtani lately, and I’m starting to get a bit bored. What do you all think?
Thoughts on Shohei Ohtani’s Coverage
Recently, I’ve been hearing a lot of voices expressing that they’re getting a bit tired of the constant news and commercials featuring Shohei Ohtani. I can somewhat understand that
feeling. Honestly, every time I see him in a commercial, I find myself thinking, “Oh, it’s Ohtani again.”
My Experience and His Impact
Although I was born in California, I grew up in Osaka, where soccer was more prevalent than baseball. However, watching Ohtani’s performances in Major League Baseball truly amazes me. There are moments when he hits a home run or strikes out a batter that I can’t help but cheer out loud. That said, I do think that if he’s in too many commercials, it might dilute his charm a bit. I would love to see more features on other Japanese athletes and entertainers. For example, commercials featuring Haruna Kawaguchi or Fuka Koshiba really highlight their bright personalities, making them enjoyable to watch.
Thoughts on Sports Coverage
Moreover, I wish sports segments would cover more information about Japanese professional baseball. In the environment we grew up in, supporting local players and teams is the most enjoyable part. When there’s only Ohtani news from morning till night, I can’t help but think, “There must be other interesting things out there!”
