Hearing the news that Hamada Masatake has suddenly resumed his entertainment activities warmed my heart. I feel that his humor and presence are indispensable to the Japanese
entertainment industry. It does make me a little sad to imagine what kind of feelings he had when making this decision, especially in the absence of Matsumoto-san.
The Bond of Downtown
The two members of Downtown have built a unique bond over many years spent together. In the current situation where there is no clear timeline for Matsumoto-san’s return, Hamada-san may be trying to maintain the presence of Downtown as a whole by resuming his activities. I completely understand his desire to create a place where he can always return. It’s similar to how we support friends during tough times.
