The Inaction and Its Background
Recently, discussions surrounding the sexual violence incident at Fuji TV have gained traction. It is indeed puzzling that while the Labor Standards Inspection Office promptly investigated the power harassment issues at the Takarazuka Revue, there has been no movement regarding the Fuji TV case. I find myself contemplating this situation.
The Dynamics of Law and
Organizations
The incident at Fuji TV, which occurred during work hours, raises questions about corporate management responsibility. Given that the victim is unable to return to work, why isn’t the Labor Standards Inspection Office taking action? Several reasons can be considered. Firstly, there is the relationship between corporations and government authorities. There are claims that government officials have landed jobs at Fuji TV, and if this is true, it could contribute to the company being treated preferentially. As someone studying law, I have significant doubts about such structures. It is indeed strange that in a country that should be governed by the rule of law, special rules like these exist. If the law is not applied equally, it is clear that it will have a detrimental effect on society as a whole.
Emotions and Reality
When I think about this issue, I cannot help but become emotional. Our society must not allow a structure where victims are forced to suffer in silence. If companies continue to prioritize their own interests and ignore victims, an environment where everyone can work safely will never be created. Particularly concerning is the response from the perpetrator’s side. The gestures of providing consolation money or introducing a lawyer make it seem as if the company is collectively protecting the perpetrator. I have discussed these matters with friends, and it seems that many share the same feelings.
Seeking Everyone’s Opinions
I believe we must change this structure, but I’m curious about how others feel. Personally, I would like to hear more opinions and experiences from people. I would be glad if you could share your thoughts or experiences in the comments. By raising our voices together, I hope we can make even a small difference in this situation.
