Recently, a conversation with a friend sparked the question, “Was Sugiura Taiyou a former idol?” At first, I was surprised and thought, “Wait, he was an idol?” But upon further investigation, I found out that he was indeed active as an actor, particularly famous for his role in “Ultraman Cosmos.”
Encounter with Ultraman
When I was a child, I absolutely loved Ultraman and would watch it religiously every week. During the “Cosmos” era, Sugiura Taiyou’s refreshing
smile left a lasting impression on me. He felt more like an older brother than a traditional hero. It’s likely that many fans saw him as an idol during that time. One day, while attending the “Ultraman Festival” with friends, there was an event featuring Sugiura-san. The excitement among the fans was incredible, and we were all buzzing with energy. The moment he stepped onto the stage, the surrounding children shouted, “It’s Ultraman!” and I couldn’t help but exclaim, “Wow, he’s so cool!” I still can’t forget the exhilaration of that moment.
My Thoughts as a Mom
Now that I’m a mom with kids of my own, I want to show them heroes like him. When my children say, “I want to watch Ultraman!” I find myself just as excited to watch it with them.
