Question from a reader:
While watching YouTube, I often hear harsh opinions about Masahiro Nakai’s actions, with some saying they are finally seeing his true self. Do you think he has a hidden side?
Considering Masahiro Nakai’s hidden side
Recently, I’ve been seeing a lot of discussions about Masahiro Nakai on YouTube. There are many comments describing his behavior as “harsh”
or suggesting that we’re starting to see his “true self,” which makes me curious. For us, Nakai-san is a bright presence on television, but what kind of face does he have behind the scenes? Just the other day, I was rewatching some of Nakai-san’s old variety shows with friends. His lively talk and playful gestures are genuinely entertaining, and we couldn’t help but laugh out loud. There’s something about his style of comedy that resonates with us, and his humor always lifts our spirits. Thinking about this, it makes me feel a bit conflicted to consider that he might have a hidden side different from what he shows us.
Everyone might have a hidden side
However, it’s true that a “hidden side” might exist for everyone. Personally, when I’m playing with my kids, I’m all smiles, but I can also be stressed out from work. There are times when I vent to friends while munching on snacks, trying to reset my mood. Sometimes I even worry about gaining weight from eating too many sweets, and I’ve realized it’s important to accept my imperfect self. Nakai-san may present a cheerful and energetic image on television, but it’s possible he faces troubles and struggles just like the rest of us. Therefore, regardless of his actions, it might be essential for us to adopt a broader perspective to understand him better.
