Exploring Asakusa and Tokyo Station: A Guide to Our Upcoming Company Trip

Upcoming Company Trip to Tokyo/Asakusa

Next week, our team is gearing up for an exciting company trip to Tokyo, with a particular focus on the vibrant area of Asakusa. Known for its rich history and cultural significance, Asakusa offers a
plethora of experiences that are perfect for both work bonding and personal exploration. Notably, we have two blocks of free time to explore on our own, and I’m particularly looking forward to capturing the beauty of these iconic locations through my photography.

Day 1: Around Asakusa (2:00 PM – 5:30 PM)

As we arrive in Asakusa on Day 1, we’ll have from 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM to dive into the local atmosphere. Having visited Asakusa before, I’ve already enjoyed the traditional rickshaw rides and marveled at the grandeur of Senso-ji Temple. However, there are still numerous hidden gems waiting to be discovered. One spot I highly recommend for photography enthusiasts is the Sumida River. Capture stunning views of the river with the Tokyo Skytree in the background. The riverside promenade is perfect for a leisurely stroll, and the unique angle of the Skytree from this vantage point makes for an unforgettable shot. Another must-visit is the Nakamise Shopping Street, which leads up to Senso-ji Temple. Here, you will find an array of traditional snacks and souvenirs, with vibrant stalls that make for great photos. Be sure to try some ningyo-yaki, a delightful doll-shaped cake filled with red bean paste, while you’re there! For a more tranquil experience, wouldn’t it be lovely to unwind at the Asakusa Culture and Tourism Center? The observation deck offers panoramic views of Asakusa and beyond, providing an excellent opportunity for photography. Plus, there are exhibitions that showcase the local culture, making it a perfect spot for both relaxation and learning. To wrap up the day, I would suggest heading to a nearby café or izakaya. The quaint atmosphere in Asakusa is ideal for catching up with my colleague after six months apart. A cozy spot like Asakusa Sakagura, known for its sake selection, would be a fantastic choice for us to unwind and enjoy a quiet evening.

Day 3: Around Tokyo Station (10:00 AM – 1:00 PM)

On Day 3, we will have the opportunity to explore the bustling area around Tokyo Station from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. This central hub is not only a transportation marvel but also a treasure trove of architectural beauty and cultural experiences. One of the first places I would recommend is the Marunouchi Building. The area surrounding the station is brimming with modern skyscrapers, and the Marunouchi Building features a delightful blend of shopping and dining options. The rooftop terrace provides a breathtaking view of the Tokyo skyline, making it an ideal spot for some stunning photographs. If time allows, don’t miss out on the Imperial Palace, which is a short walk from Tokyo Station. Although the inner grounds are not open to the public, the gardens are beautiful and provide a serene escape from the city’s hustle and bustle. The contrast of the ancient palace against the modern cityscape is a photographer’s dream. For a more relaxed atmosphere, we could visit Hibiya Park, which is also nearby. This lush green space is perfect for a leisurely stroll and offers a great backdrop for photos. The park’s seasonal flowers and tranquil ponds create a beautiful setting to catch up and enjoy some time together. As we wrap up our exploration, I would suggest stopping at a café in the area, like the famous Marunouchi Café, where we can indulge in delicious pastries and coffee. It’s the perfect way to end our morning adventure before heading back to the company activities.

Conclusion

As we prepare for our company trip to Tokyo and Asakusa, I’m thrilled at the prospect of capturing the beauty of these iconic locations through my lens. With a mix of historic sights, modern architecture, and plenty of cozy spots to relax, I’m sure both my colleague and I will have an unforgettable experience reconnecting while exploring. If you have any additional recommendations, I’d love to hear them! Let’s make the most of this fantastic opportunity.
