Question from a reader:
What kind of athlete is Mikhail Shaidrov? This is the first time I’ve learned about him, and I was struck by his tall stature and beautiful presence. He looks just like a model. It’s been a while since I’ve felt that a male athlete is “beautiful.”
About Athlete Mikhail Shaidrov
I was recently told about Mikhail Shaidrov,
and I got really excited to learn about him! He truly is tall and has a model-like beauty, doesn’t he? In figure skating, I believe that appearance is just as important as performance. Since becoming a parent, I’ve had more opportunities to watch sports with my child, and when I see athletes like him, I want to tell my child, “Isn’t he cool?” and “How wonderful!”
His Abilities and Growth
Shaidrov is still just 20 years old, and his jumping ability is impressive too. The fact that he has the 4Lutz is amazing! I skated a little when I was a child, and I’ve always been amazed by the beauty of those spins. Although he struggled with consistency last season, it’s great to see that he has improved this season by winning the Four Continents and successfully executing his first quadruple jump. However, he still has some rough edges in his spins and steps, which makes him feel more relatable. His imperfections are charming, and I’m excited to see how he continues to grow.
My Memories and Thoughts
Watching figure skating often moves me as I can feel the athletes’ efforts and growth. Especially when I’m watching with my child, I often get questions like, “How can they spin like that?” which makes me learn and enjoy the experience even more. Lately, while watching skating competitions, I find myself preparing a lot of snacks and sometimes end up eating too much (laughs). But those little moments are truly enjoyable. Having athletes like Shaidrov continue to shine makes us fans happy and inspires dreams in our children. I can’t wait to see what kind of performance he will show at the next Olympics! Which athlete have you been paying attention to lately? Also, if you have any memorable episodes or touching moments from watching figure skating, please share them in the comments!
