Question from a reader:
Recently, I saw Matsujige Yutaka and BTS’s JIN filming for a Chimaek restaurant on a Korean show. Who is the other person on the left? They spoke Japanese very well.
Meeting KANNA-M at the Chimaek filming
I was captivated when I saw Matsujige Yutaka and BTS’s JIN filming for a Chimaek restaurant on a Korean show. I
was curious about who the person on the left was, and I learned through user comments that it was KANNA-M, which piqued my interest even more.
Surprising background of KANNA-M
KANNA-M is half Japanese and half Korean, born in Tokyo and raised in Nishikasai. I’m amazed at his achievements in Korea, especially considering he grew up in Tokyo. Although he debuted as a band member of Orange Range, his transition to debuting as part of the HipHop group “M.I.B” after being scouted in Korea is quite remarkable. It’s no surprise that his talk skills are highly regarded. He even appeared on Japan’s “Wednesday Downtown,” which feels relatable. I love that show too, especially the episodes featuring unique guests that have me laughing non-stop. Discovering that KANNA-M was part of such moments is a delightful surprise.
Unexpected marriage and nationality acquisition
I was further surprised to learn that he married speed skater Lee Sang-hwa. Marrying an Olympic gold medalist feels like a plot twist from a drama! Recently, he acquired Korean nationality, so now he feels like a “former Japanese.” I think it’s wonderful how he transcends cultural differences and language barriers in his activities.
Currently hooked on KANNA-M’s YouTube
Lately, I’ve been checking out KANNA-M’s YouTube channel, and it warms my heart to see him inviting famous Japanese personalities as guests. His coverage of Japanese songs for a Korean audience is fascinating as a cultural exchange. I’m curious to see how my favorite songs are received by Korean people, and I find myself watching intently. Just the other day, I was out enjoying Korean cuisine with friends, and we got excited talking about KANNA-M. It was the perfect time to share stories about his achievements and funny anecdotes while enjoying the food. Perhaps next, I’ll plan a night of cooking Korean dishes while watching KANNA-M’s YouTube!
Share your experiences!
If anyone has stories about KANNA-M or interesting experiences related to Korean culture, please share them in the comments. I’m also eager to hear about any funny shows you’ve recently watched or moving experiences you’ve had! I look forward to having enjoyable conversations together.
