Lately, I’ve been hearing a lot about the chaos in the entertainment industry. Watching the news about it stirs up a sense of unease within me. It’s especially complex when I see comedians and actors I’ve admired for a long time getting
into trouble. A phrase my friend used, “it’s just the pus coming out,” left a strong impression on me. It seems that as the long-standing structure crumbles, the darker aspects of the past are coming to light. Growing up in Osaka, I feel like I understand a bit about the world of manzai and comedy. When something changes, it inevitably brings various issues to the forefront.

I think there are various opinions about the rapid shift towards a more sanitized industry. It’s clear that many people involved are feeling anxious. As a father, I often think about the kind of environment I want my children to grow up in, and I believe healthy entertainment is essential.
