Can We Trust NTV’s Announcement on Inappropriate Conduct? Analyzing the Credibility of Their Internal Investigation

Can We Trust NTV’s Announcement?

Recently, I saw the news that Nippon Television (NTV) announced, “There were no inappropriate dinners,” and I couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow. With the escalating issues surrounding Fuji TV, it’s hard to believe that only NTV is clean. Particularly surprising was when Takafumi Horie exposed a secret filming incident at NTV. Apparently, he was
invited to a group date with a female announcer, and the entire event was secretly recorded and aired on television. Although the female announcer was not involved, it’s truly problematic to have such footage taken and broadcast without consent. While I do take casual photos with friends, doing so without permission is absolutely unacceptable.

Credibility of the Internal Investigation and Future Actions

When NTV claims “no issues” based solely on an internal investigation, it raises doubts about whether anyone can truly speak their mind. Given the silence throughout the industry, it’s somewhat unnatural for NTV to confidently declare, “We’re fine.” If NTV were to face similar problems as Fuji, would they prioritize protecting their talent or their own employees? That decision is undoubtedly challenging. Having witnessed the significant damage caused by Fuji’s slow response, I believe NTV should learn from this and act quickly and sincerely if any issues arise. Currently, NTV’s only measure seems to be “promoting the reporting hotline,” but I’m worried about whether that will genuinely be effective. I often wonder if a supportive environment for reporting issues is in place.

When issues like this arise, it’s natural to feel anxious. I think it’s important to discuss any concerns with friends or to rally together with peers. What do you all think? Can we trust NTV’s announcement? If you have any thoughts, stories, or concerns, please feel free to share in the comments!
