Recently, while chatting with a friend, we came across the topic: “What would you do if a handsome guy like Sato Shori was working at the convenience store nearby?” She immediately replied, “I would go see
him!” Since I also like Sato Shori, I must admit that I would be a bit curious if there were someone like him around.
The Charm and Excitement of Convenience Stores
In fact, I often visit the convenience store in my neighborhood. Especially late at night when I get a little hungry, I sometimes find myself buying snacks. If there happened to be a handsome clerk there, I could see myself feeling excited while choosing my items. Normally, I shop without a second thought, but just the presence of him would add a sense of tension that makes things interesting. One day, after work, I stopped by that convenience store and, sure enough, there was a handsome clerk. His smile made my heart race, and I ended up buying snacks I didn’t even need. I thought to myself, “What am I doing?” but the possibility of having a conversation with him made even the unnecessary purchase feel worthwhile.

That day, I had a chance to chat with him briefly at the register. When he asked, “How have you been lately?” I instinctively replied, “I’ve been busy.” I learned that he was also busy and a university student, which made me feel a little closer to him. It’s these kinds of unexpected encounters that make visiting convenience stores so enjoyable. However, I wouldn’t go out of my way just to see him at that convenience store. Since I usually shop there, I find it most enjoyable to feel lucky when he happens to be working while I do my shopping. Plus, having a handsome clerk around turns an ordinary shopping trip into a special experience.
