Recently, the topic of defamation against Yuzuru Hanyu has gained attention. As a fan, it’s incredibly frustrating to witness! There must be many who understand his dedication and talent, so it’s hard to comprehend why
some people would say such things. I, too, find myself getting emotional when I see artists or athletes I admire being defamed. For instance, there was a time when I was looking at a favorite comedian’s social media and saw them being criticized for something completely unrelated. I couldn’t help but shout, “Why would anyone say that?” Considering how hard they work and how many people they entertain is truly painful.
The Fate of Being Loved
A friend once said, “Those who are loved also attract a lot of hate,” and I believe this is absolutely true. The more someone becomes a superstar, the more attacks stemming from jealousy and misunderstanding may come their way. Taylor Swift has a lyric that says, “Those who speak ill will always continue to speak ill,” and that resonates deeply. This is why I feel it’s essential to stay strong and not be swayed by such voices. Honestly, I sometimes find myself bothered by the defamation. However, thinking about the supportive fans that Yuzuru has makes it a bit easier for me. He has a tremendous amount of support, and I believe he can overcome this with that strength.
