Question from a reader:
Is it really difficult to survive in the entertainment industry?
Reflecting on the Harshness of the Entertainment Industry
The entertainment industry is truly a tough world. Recently, I had a conversation with a friend about this. He aspires to be an actor and has been auditioning. Listening to his stories, you really feel the intensity of the
competition. Groups that were once unknown suddenly become popular, while those who were famous can disappear without a trace. It’s like a roller coaster ride.
The Harsh Reality and Unexpected Silver Linings
What he mentioned is that the number of people auditioning each year is enormous, and surviving among them is incredibly challenging. It’s shocking to realize that only a few dozen can make it each year. Especially lately, with advertising budgets shifting to online platforms, it’s become a time when relying solely on traditional media won’t guarantee survival. During a chat at a café, he remarked, “I think tough times present opportunities,” which really stuck with me. Indeed, it’s often in adversity that new ideas emerge and interesting works are born. His perspective was quite surprising.
How to Market Yourself is Key
What you choose to promote about yourself is also a crucial point. He said, “It’s all about how you utilize your individuality,” and I completely agree. With the rise of YouTubers, there’s a growing demand for unique content. In the past, television was the sole center of media, but now, we have the chance to express ourselves in diverse ways, which might actually present new opportunities.
Final Thoughts
In my own experience working in the legal field, I’ve found that even in challenging circumstances, opportunities can arise. During my part-time job at a law firm, unexpected new clients sometimes come my way. So perhaps the entertainment industry, too, can open up pathways through hard work and perseverance. What do you all think? If you have any stories or advice related to the entertainment industry or pursuing your dreams, I’d love for you to share in the comments. It would be great to exchange our experiences and encourage each other.
