Why Most Entrepreneurs from Money no Tora End Up Bankrupt: Insights and Lessons Learned

Question from Readers:
Why have most of the entrepreneurs who appeared on “Money no Tora” ended up bankrupt?

“Money no Tora” and the Reasons for Bankruptcy

“Money no Tora” was such an interesting show. I admired the success of those entrepreneurs, but it’s shocking to learn that most of them ended up bankrupt. I’ve thought a bit about why this happened.

The Harsh Reality of Cash-Based Businesses

Running retail or food service businesses is incredibly challenging. When major chain stores enter the market, competition intensifies, making it difficult to turn a profit. The food service industry is particularly susceptible to trends and fads, which can lead to constant stress and uncertainty. I also work part-time at a judicial scrivener’s office, and just preparing contracts is a lot of work. The thought of managing a restaurant is overwhelming.

The Flow of Time and Human Nature

We can’t ignore the changing times. Nowadays, platforms like YouTube and online businesses are booming, and they carry less risk in terms of inventory and procurement. I often envy that. I’ve even discussed starting a YouTube channel with friends, but ultimately, I found it too cumbersome and let it go. Starting something requires a lot of energy. Moreover, there might have been quirks in the personalities of those entrepreneurs. I believe that to succeed, a certain level of flexibility and relationship-building is essential, but perhaps they weren’t able to leverage those skills effectively. While some have managed to bounce back, luck and timing likely played significant roles in their success.

My Experiences and Emotions

Through my part-time job at the judicial scrivener’s office, I’ve had the chance to interact with various business owners. Sometimes, I feel like crying when I hear their struggles, while other times I burst out laughing at their amusing stories. Those moments really stick with me. For instance, one entrepreneur shared that when he bought a lot of snacks for his employees, everyone smiled. In that moment, I could feel his passion for his business, and it warmed my heart. I believe that this human aspect is crucial in business.

Ultimately, running a business is not easy, and many factors intertwine to determine success. What do you think? If anyone has experiences similar to those of the entrepreneurs on “Money no Tora,” or perhaps success stories to share, I would love to hear them in the comments. Please share your story with me!
