Question from a reader:
I asked a question in this category, but I received defaming remarks and was blocked by someone who disagreed with my opinion. Isn’t this a violation of the rules? What do you think?
The Dilemma of Defamation and Blocking
Hello everyone! Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about how challenging interactions online can be. Especially when faced
with someone who has a different opinion, it’s easy for emotions to run high. I was talking about this with a friend recently, and he shared his own experiences, mentioning that he had been “defamed” on the platform.
Sharing My Experience
I have also encountered unexpected reactions during online interactions. For instance, I once seriously answered a question, only to be told by someone, “People like you shouldn’t answer.” At that moment, I found it a bit amusing, but part of me thought, “There’s no need to say it like that.” Ultimately, I ended up blocking that person, but I still didn’t feel great about it. Listening to my friend’s story, I realized that being told you’re “on someone’s blacklist” can really stir up feelings of unease. Such remarks are often used as a way to attack others, making it even more hurtful.
Legal Concerns
Legally speaking, it’s true that if someone can be identified, defamation or insult charges might apply. However, to be honest, it’s exhausting to think about that while interacting online. I believe the internet should primarily be a place for enjoyment, not conflict.
