Question from a reader:
Yuzuru Hanyu won gold medals at the 2014 and 2018 Olympics, but is this a historic first?
The Story of Yuzuru Hanyu’s Olympic Gold Medals
Hello! Recently, I’ve been hearing a lot about Yuzuru Hanyu, especially regarding his gold medal wins in the 2014 and 2018 Olympics. However, this is not the first time such an achievement
has occurred in history. Hanyu won a gold medal at the 2014 Sochi Olympics and then brilliantly secured another gold at the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics. This is indeed a historic feat in men’s singles figure skating. In fact, he is the first athlete to achieve back-to-back golds in this category at the Olympics. Isn’t that amazing?
Emotional Moments
I remember watching the moment Hanyu won his gold medal on TV, and I was genuinely moved. Especially at the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics, the atmosphere when he finished his performance was incredible, and I almost teared up. His expressions and the way he wholeheartedly expressed his joy captured my heart. Interestingly, I was watching with friends, and we gathered a bit early and prepared a lot of snacks. In the end, we were so nervous that we ended up eating too many snacks, and by the time the competition started, our stomachs were already full (laughs). But even those little mishaps turned into a really fun memory.
Gratitude towards Hanyu
Watching Hanyu’s achievements makes me want my own children to have dreams too. When they grow up, I hope to teach them the importance of working hard and embracing challenges, just like Hanyu does. I invite everyone to share your memories of Hanyu’s gold medal wins or your own aspirations in the comments! No matter how small, your thoughts are very welcome. Let’s all connect and share our experiences!
