At first, I also wondered, “Can we really trust them?” However, after researching recent information, it appears they are quite meticulous in crafting their articles. Particularly regarding scandals involving politicians, it seems crucial to have solid evidence before reporting. As my friend mentioned, in the past, there were many cases of defamation lawsuits, but it seems those are decreasing nowadays. I remember watching news when Matsumoto Hitoshi filed a lawsuit. After he stated, “It’s completely false, so I will fight,” he ended up apologizing, saying, “If anyone was hurt, I apologize.” That moment made me chuckle a bit. His joking manner made it particularly memorable.
The Efforts of Freelance Journalists
It seems that many of Bunshun’s articles are brought in by freelance journalists. They are connected with various informants and make sure to verify their information before writing. Ultimately, the editor-in-chief selects the articles, and knowing there is a double-checking process gives a certain level of reassurance. Since hearing this, I find myself thinking, “Yeah, this might be trustworthy,” when reading Bunshun articles. In contrast, I feel that articles from other weekly magazines, like “Is that person trying a nude photo shoot?” are entirely different. Those feel like mere rumors and don’t pique my interest at all.
