Question from a Reader:
Will Hanshin’s Eida catcher never be put up for the active draft? Do you think Hanshin will continue to nurture him?
Thoughts on Hanshin’s Eida Catcher
Recently, a friend asked me, “Will Hanshin’s Eida catcher be put up for the active draft?” He is a Hanshin fan and seems to have high hopes for Eida. After hearing his
opinion, I decided to think about it a bit more.
The Importance of a Catcher
First of all, the role of a catcher is extremely important. Their presence significantly contributes to a pitcher’s development. I also work in a judicial scrivener’s office, and I realize how crucial communication is among professionals. A catcher can discern a pitcher’s tendencies and send signals, which can greatly change the flow of a game. Therefore, they are not someone you can easily let go. In my conversation with my friend, we reached the conclusion that it is highly unlikely Eida will be put up for the draft. Even if other teams find him appealing, Hanshin’s commitment to nurturing him will likely remain unchanged. Thinking about that makes me excited for his future.
My Memories and Feelings
I have a friend from my university days who played a catcher-like role for me. He always supported me and provided appropriate advice when I was struggling. I was particularly amazed by his depth of knowledge when we studied together before a certain exam. His presence helped me improve my grades. Reflecting on those memories with him, I imagine Eida is similarly supporting his teammates. The thought of him building trust with pitchers and bringing out their best performances is truly exciting.
