Recently, the discussions surrounding the Hanshin Tigers have been endless. Especially regarding catcher Sakamoto and shortstop Obata, even those
who aren’t fans are likely paying attention. Personally, I enjoy watching the players grow every time I watch a Hanshin game.
Obata’s Growth and Expectations
I couldn’t help but cheer when I heard that Obata finally got a hit and has raised his batting average to over .200. His defensive skills and contributions on the base paths are truly impressive. Watching him disrupt the bases with his quick movements is exhilarating. I remember the last time I watched a game with friends, the stadium erupted when he got a hit. Everyone stood up to cheer, and that atmosphere is part of what makes Hanshin so appealing.
Concerns about Kinami
On the other hand, I’m a bit worried about Kinami. Despite being given opportunities as a pinch hitter, he hasn’t been able to deliver results, which is frustrating. While he may not be a .300 hitter, as a fan, I still hold high hopes for him. Seeing him strike out in a bases-loaded situation makes me want to shout, “Do your best!” from the sidelines. I can relate to the pressure of crucial moments. I recall a friend boasting, “If I were the batter, I’d definitely get a hit!” while watching a game. Ironically, he ended up striking out in a friendly game later, which led to a good laugh.
The Importance of Defense
Certainly, having catchers and shortstops who can hit is valuable, but I hope they can contribute defensively as well. I believe that building momentum from solid defense is key to achieving victories for Hanshin. As a father, I also feel a desire to teach my son the joy of baseball and the importance of hard work.
