Did anyone else who grew up watching Sailor Moon feel like they wanted to wear those costumes? I especially admired Princess Sailor Moon. But it seems like other girls from my generation preferred outfits from shows like Pretty Cure instead. I always thought the original Sailor Moon costumes were
cuter because they were simpler. What did you all think?
Growing Up with Sailor Moon
Oh man, reading that question brought back so many memories! I remember being absolutely enchanted by Sailor Moon when I was a kid. Those costumes were everything! I mean, who wouldn’t want to wear a cute sailor outfit while saving the world? Princess Sailor Moon was my absolute favorite—there was something magical about her grace and strength, and I think I just wanted to channel that energy. I can totally understand why some girls leaned towards outfits from shows like Pretty Cure. They were all about empowerment and action, and I admired that too! But for me, the simplicity of Sailor Moon’s costumes—those classic colors and that iconic tiara—really spoke to me. There’s something timeless about them. I remember one Halloween, I tried to convince my parents to let me wear a Sailor Moon costume, but I think they went for something more practical. I ended up as a ninja instead, which was fun, but not quite the same, you know? What’s funny is that I had a little group of friends who were all about the Pretty Cure hype. They’d talk about the coolest transformation sequences, while I’d just sit there daydreaming about how I could twirl in a sailor dress. But I loved how we all had our different favorites; it made for some hilarious conversations.
