Can Shohei Ohtani Reach 165 km/h Fastball Speed? Insights on His Performance and Injury Recovery

Question from a reader:
Can Shohei Ohtani throw a fastball at 165 km/h now? I heard that his four-seam was at 151 km/h during a recent warm-up, but I’m curious about his future performance.

Thoughts on Shohei Ohtani’s Fastball

Recently, there’s been a lot of buzz about whether Shohei Ohtani can throw a fastball at 165 km/h. Watching him play always
gets me excited. The anticipation when he’s on the mound is something indescribable. Personally, baseball is a bit of a hobby for me, and I often go to games with friends, so I pay special attention to his performance. When I heard the news that his four-seam was at 151 km/h during a recent warm-up, I felt a bit relieved. However, I can’t help but worry about his shoulder injury. There are comments from doctors, but I believe the player’s own feelings about their body are something entirely different. Having also experienced injuries in sports in the past, I completely understand that anxious feeling.

The Future as a Pitcher

While discussing this with friends over drinks, one of them remarked, “Maybe he should stop pitching and focus on being an outfielder?” That really stuck with me. It’s true that being a pitcher puts a significant strain on the body. I remember when I used to play baseball, I overdid it and hurt my shoulder, which was really tough. Every time I pitched, I thought, “This might be the last time,” and I was desperately trying to keep going. Considering that Ohtani has torn ligaments twice, he must carry a lot of anxiety. If I were in his shoes, thinking about the possibility of getting injured again would be overwhelming. Despite that, I truly admire his determination to keep playing.

What Do You Think?

What do you all think about Ohtani? If you have opinions on his future performance or his recovery from injuries, I would love to hear them! I’m eager to listen to your thoughts, and if you have any interesting stories, please share those as well. I’m looking forward to your responses!
