For instance, despite the findings of a third-party committee based on a report, opinions like “It was wrong not to consult” or “Consent was given when visiting his home” certainly feel outdated. It’s strange to think that just because someone is a big-name talent, there must be some special circumstances surrounding the situation. What concerns me most is how the conversation has shifted to “poor Nakai-kun.” Yes, he is a celebrity, but that shouldn’t excuse ignoring the structure of the alleged perpetrator’s actions. In fact, looking at it from the perspective of the alleged perpetrator highlights the asymmetry of power, calling for a reevaluation of that very structure.
