Question from a Reader:
Will Naoya Inoue be listed in the Guinness Book if he unifies four titles and defends them about 15 times?
Reflecting on Naoya Inoue’s Achievements
Recently, I was discussing Naoya Inoue with some friends. The idea of him unifying four titles and defending them around 15 times sounds like something out of a movie, doesn’t it? My
friend was excitedly saying, “No one has ever done that before, so if it happens, he might end up in the Guinness Book!” However, when you think about it realistically, it’s not that simple. Even if he defends his titles three times a year, achieving 15 defenses in five years is quite a challenge. Watching boxing matches, I feel a thrill seeing the athletes step into the ring, but I also think about the injuries and the difficulty of managing their health. It’s truly an incredible feat.
The Weight of Records and the Effort of Athletes
While discussing this, I remembered my own experiences of taking on challenges when I was younger. For instance, I performed a comedy skit at my high school cultural festival. I was so nervous that I had a stomachache before my turn and panicked when I forgot my lines. Yet, the exhilaration of standing on stage is something I still cherish. I imagine Naoya feels similar nerves and pressure, but he consistently delivers amazing performances. My friend then pondered seriously, “How would Inoue feel if he really set that record?” As we sat there drinking beer, thinking about this, we shared many moments of laughter and inspiration. It was a lot of fun!
