Question from a Reader:
Why is Kageyama-kun not doing well? Honestly, I’m a Yuzu fan, so I’m happy to see Sato-kun doing his best, but I’m worried that if things continue like this, we might lose to the U.S.
Thoughts on Kageyama’s Condition
Recently, I’ve heard that Kageyama’s condition hasn’t been great, but what’s the reality behind it? I recently watched
the team competition, and his performance was truly remarkable. His determination to tackle high-difficulty jumps was both thrilling and inspiring to watch. What stood out to me was the moment he fell during his quadruple flip attempt. It was his first try, so while it was unfortunate that he didn’t succeed, I thought his willingness to take on the challenge was commendable. I believe such efforts will lead to greater achievements in the upcoming season.
Appreciating Sato’s Efforts
Sato’s performance was also impressive. Despite not being in peak condition, he skillfully executed his routine while lowering the difficulty, which was truly admirable. It’s crucial to make decisions considering one’s health. Nevertheless, he scored high points, showcasing his strengths in PCS. Reflecting on the competition, my friends and I were excitedly saying, “The smile when the jump landed was the best!” and conversely worried when he fell, thinking, “Oh no, is he okay?” It was an emotional rollercoaster! The sense of unity in the audience is a cherished memory.
Feeling the Difference with the U.S.
However, I also felt the reality that it’s tough for the Japanese team to win against the U.S. team. The American athletes generally perform at a high level, so it may be understandable that we struggle to win in team events. In ice dance, despite their efforts, it’s still challenging to achieve high scores. Even so, witnessing the athletes’ determination moves me deeply. Their hard work inspires us, too. I’m looking forward to seeing what kind of evolution they will undergo as we approach the next Olympics. While I cheer on with excitement, what do you all think? Please share your thoughts on Kageyama and Sato’s performances, or your opinions about other athletes in the comments! I would love to chat about it together.
